AMIENS, France (CelebrityAccess) — At least 20 French soccer were injured, three of them seriously, after a safety barrier collapsed during a soccer game on Saturday.

“Three people were evacuated and are seriously injured while 17 others have minor injuries,” a Ligue 1 official said (via Goal.com) after the incident that caused the match to be abandoned. “Safety is no longer assured.”

According to the Associated Press, the incident occurred when during a match at the Stade de la Licorne in Amiens. Fans, most of them supporters of the visiting team Lille OSC, surged towards the barrier after their team scored a goal, causing it to collapse, spilling at least 25 onto the field.

Most of the fans were able to stand after the fall, but several were treated for injuries and transported for medical care. The remainder of the match was canceled after approximately a 30-minute delay.

The Stade de la Licorne is currently undergoing a refurbishment, but stadium officials stated that the upgrades were focused on the roof and painting and had no impact on the safety fence, the Associated Press said.
