South Korean teen idol Jan Hyunseung has canceled an upcoming concert and it is the kind of stuff that can turn a country on its ear.

Hyunseung was expected to be the central figure of a performance, “Jang Huynseung Special Live In Japan,” at the Saitama Culture Center in Saitama Jan. 23, but abruptly canceled the show Jan. 4. Cube Entertainment, the record label that handles Hyunseung, made the announcement in a lengthy statement, noting a breach of contract with concert production company NAMISE.

Hyunseung also canceled a Japan fan meet-and-greet in June, also citing “internal complications.”

“First of all, we want to offer our apologies to both domestic and international fans about this unavoidable decision,” Cube said. “In the attempt to successfully stage the ‘Jang Hyun Seung Special Live in Japan’ concert, we made continuous attempts to communicate with the domestic agency Leaders Company and the Japanese concert production company NAMISE.

“Because we decided that our top priority was to keep our promises to the fans, we gave [the companies] the opportunity to remedy their breach of contract. Ultimately, however, both companies did not fulfill their promises. Therefore, after determining that it would be difficult to go on with the concert, we had no choice but to cancel it.

“We would like to sincerely apologize once again to the fans who have been waiting for Jang Hyunseung’s concert.”

Hyunseung is a former member of boy group Beast, also known as B2ST, but went solo in 2016 and apologized about it to fans in a 2017 Instagram post. The 29-year-old is also making news for confirming that he his dating former pro-rhythmic gymnast Shin Soo Ji. The South Korean made her own international for throwing out the first pitch of a ball game in 2013.
