ATLANTA (CelebrityAccess) — Since Live Nation took over at Atlanta’s Buckhead theater last summer, the promoter giant has invested $7 million in renovations at the historic venue, all while keeping its doors open for business.

“It was like an acrobatic balancing act between concerts,” Josh Martin, marketing manager for Live Nation’s Atlanta clubs and theaters told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the upgrades are mostly updates to the1,400-capacity venue’s look and its physical plant and include hardwood floors, dark, heavy curtains, new audio monitors, and upgrades to the venue’s air conditioning system.

Other added features for the Buckhead include an expanded bar area, replete with mirrored Elvises and an upstairs Elton John-themed bar.

The upstairs also now includes the new Lounge, a special VIP area that is accessible for patrons to relax during shows for an additional charge. The Lounge can be accessed from behind a roped-off corner and includes velvet couches, a private cash bar, drink coasters made out of vinyl records, a full menu and complimentary appetizers, the AJC reported.

Parking is still a premium for downtown Atlanta, but parking for the venue is now a little easier through a deal with an adjacent new high rise development that will allow Buckhead Theatre customers to park on their deck for $20 dollars.

Still, some things at the theater remain the same, including the upstairs balcony, which still features the original hardwood chairs purchased by Live Nation Atlanta President Peter Conlon and his late business partner Alex Cooley, turned the venue into the Coca-Cola Roxy in the ‘90s, the AJC said.

“I think we paid 30 bucks each for them,” Conlon told the newspaper.
