LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Jimmy Iovine, the public face of Apple’s streaming music service, may be headed for the door.
According to a report on Thursday in the Wall Street Journal, sources close to Iovine told the paper that the storied label exec is planning to transition into a consulting role at Apple Music in August and step back from the day-to-day operations of the streaming music service.
Sources told the WSJ that Iovine plans to spend “more time with his family” while still rendering support for Apple Music Senior Vice President Eddy Cue.
While Iovine’s exit was widely rumored in January, he took pains to disavow reports that he was planning on leaving his post at Apple.
This time around, however, sources close to Iovine told the WSJ that his August exit coincides with the full vesting of Apple shares he received as part of Apple’s $3bn acquisition of Beats Music in 2014.
