LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — After a brief hiatus last week for the debut of “Solo: A Star Wars Story” 20th Century Fox’s “Deadpool 2” reclaimed its post at the top of the worldwide box office revenue this weekend.

According to estimates compiled by comScore, “Deadpool” added $64.9M over the weekend, with an $29.3M of that coming from North American theaters.

“Solo” meanwhile, after a disappointing debut last weekend, faded quickly, adding just $59.6M worldwide, though it remained the top-selling movie in North America, where it scared up $29.3M over the weekend, according to figures compiled by comScore.

“Adrift,” a new drama/thriller released by STX Entertainment, rounded out the top three in North America, generating an estimated $11.5M on its debut weekend according to comScore.

Directed by Baltasar Kormákur (101 Reykjavík, Hafið, A Little Trip to Heaven) and written by David Branson Smith, Aaron Kandell and Jordan Kandell, “Adrift” is based on a true story about a couple struggling to survive after their sailboat gets caught up in a hurricane.

“Adrift”s opening sales figures were soft, and were less than half of the film’s reported production budget of $35 million.

Internationally, Marvel-Disney’s “Avengers: : Infinity War” rounded out the top 3, adding another $34.7M as the movie closes in on the eye-popping figure of $2bn in cumulative revenue.
