FRANCE (CelebrityAccess) – Music Business Worldwide has today (July 3) reported that Vivendi may be in talks to purchase France’s Garorock Festival.
Garorock, which takes place in Marmande, is one of the biggest festivals in France and welcomes around 35,000 music fans annually. This year’s headliners included Indochine, DJ Snake, Macklemore and Marilyn Manson.
The news hardly comes as a surprise given Vivendi’s recent strides into the live global music business. The Universal Music parent company recently acquired Amsterdam-based ticketing and technology company Paylogic from LiveStyle, and already owns the Brive Festival in Corrèze, the Festival des Déferlantes, Love Supreme and Sundown Festival in the UK, Poptopia, UMusic Experience, the L Festival in the US, and Universal Music Festival in Spain.
Negotiations with Garorock Festival founder and organizer Ludo Labordie are reportedly ongoing. Stay tuned.
