NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) Antitrust regulators at the Department of Justice has filed an appeal to reverse the AT&T-Time Warner merger.

The $85 million deal has already been sealed, which means a positive outcome for the government would entail a breakup, according to Deadline Hollywood. The notice of appeal is reportedly signed by Craig Conrath who led the government’s efforts to waylay the merger.

The notice of appeal does not explain the reasoning behind the appeal.

“We were expecting this,” AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson told Fox Business Network. “Nobody should be surprised at this.”

The appeal complicates the prospects of Comcast submitting as counteroffer to Disney’s $71.3 billion bid for 21st Century Fox’s television and movie assets.
