LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) Nitro Circus, the high-flying motorcycle show, is taking up a residency at Bally’s in Las Vegas starting next spring.

The show was officially announced by organizer Travis Pastrana during a live feed of the “Evel Live” daredevil event at Caesars Palace last Sunday. Pastrana previously told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the event will not have much in common with other acts in the city such as Cirque du Soleil.

“Nitro is about capturing the imagination, like Evel Knievel did so well,” he told the paper. “In Las Vegas, we have Cirque du Soleil and all that stuff, but Nitro is all about the stunt aspect, where you can make mistakes. It’s not about doing things perfectly. We have airbag landings soft enough to crash nightly, and hopefully get back up.”

The upcoming production is a partnership between Base Entertainment, Caesars Entertainment and Nitro Circus.

“My main job on Nitro is creative and safety, which are kind of two very contradictory things,” Pastrana said. “The Bally’s theater is mind-blowing, and one of the few theaters where we have no ceiling-height issues. We had width issues, but we can just make the jump steeper, which has been an interesting trial and error.”

A name for the event is still in the works.

Nitro Circus, founded by Pastrana, Gregg Godfrey and Jeremy Rawle, began as a DVD series featuring Pastrana and friends performing high-flying stunts. IN 2009, they partnered with MTV to create a TV series that had huge ratings in more than 60 countries over two season. It;’s first tour of Australia became the largest action sports show in the country’s history, moving nearly 120,000 tickets. To date, it has sold more than 750,000 tickets, bringing in about $70 million.
