LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — A pick-axe wielding vandal destroyed U.S. President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday morning.

According to the Los Angeles Times, police were called to the star’s location on Hollywood Boulevard near Highland Avenue early Wednesday morning, where they found a pile of debris in the place formerly occupied by the marker.

The vandal attacked the star at approximately 3:30 a.m. and proceeded to destroy the majority of it, including smashing through the nameplate. Witnesses said the man concealed the pick-axe in a guitar case and then left the implement at the scene of the crime.

“I’m like, ‘Why are you hitting that star? What did Donald Trump do to you?'” a witness of the attack, David Palmer told NBC4. “Then he went around the corner and I think he left.”

According to NBC News, the suspected vandal later reported his own crime and turned himself in.

President Trump received the star in January 2007 for his reality television show “The Apprentice.” This incident marked the second time the star has been vandalized in the past two years. In October 2016, James Otis smashed the star with a pick-axe and a sledgehammer. He later pleaded no contest to felony vandalism and was sentenced to three years probation, 20 days of community service and agreed to pay $4,400 for the damage.

The star was also defaced with spray paint in 2016 as well.
