PORTLAND, Or. (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation Entertainment announced that they have signed a long-term lease to operate a brand new concert venue at the Lloyd Center in Portland.

The yet-to-be-named venue will be located on the top floor of the former Nordstrom building at Lloyd Center with a box office on the first floor.

The venue will feature state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology, and other accommodations including VIP amenities, communal bars and lounge areas for pre and post event dining, and more.

“This is the first step in Lloyd Center’s evolution to become a true lifestyle entertainment center,” said Bob Dye, general manager at Lloyd Center. “Our restaurants and retailers are thrilled about the thousands of concertgoers who will walk by their stores every day.”

“Portland is a great music market with a strong fan base,” added Liam Thornton, executive vice president of development of Live Nation’s Clubs & Theatres group. “This mid-size venue will fill the gap between the smaller-club venues and larger arenas already present in Portland, bringing fans even more entertainment offerings.”

The new venue coincides with renovations currently underway at the Lloyd Center, a shopping mall, and entertainment district in downtown Portland. The Lloyd Center recently completed Phase One of the multi-million-dollar renovation project, which includes completion of a new food court, an overhaul of the historic ice rink, and remodel of a signature three-story spiral staircase.

Additional renovations to the mall’s incoming Regal Cinemas and Live Nation spaces will be seen in the coming months as Lloyd Center kicks off Phase Two. Lloyd Center is currently engaged in discussions with additional family-friendly entertainment companies and local restaurants and bars with the idea of creating an entertainment wing, Live Nation said.
