(CelebrityAccess) – Detroit Democratic Rep. Fred Durhal III has proposed renaming a portion of the M-10 from 8 Mile to Interstate 9 in honor of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, reports The Associated Press.

Franklin, who was born in Detroit, died in August at the age of 76.

The news arrives less than a year after the Detroit City Council named a downtown street for Franklin and also recently approved a memorial park in her name.

According to AP, the proposal currently has 80 co-sponsors and could be heard before the legislature adjourns its two-year session later this year.
