BILBAO, Spain (CelebrityAccess) — Camila Cabello took top honors at the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday night, taking home four awards, including wins for best artist, best video and best song.
The 21-year-old Cuban-American singer came up as a member of the group Fifth Harmony but launched a solo career in 2016. She scored a hit this year with her album Camila which included song “Havana” which features a contribution by rapper Young Thug.
Cabello thanks her fans in Spanish during the ceremony, stating: “I love my fans so much. I know what it’s like to be a fan. I know how special that bond is. I love you. I see you. Gracias.”
Other winners for the night included Nicki Minah, who won “Best Look” while her erstwhile rival Cardi B took home the trophy for “Best New Artist.”
Panic! At The Disco won the award for Best Alternative Artist but the band’s frontman Brendon Urie made it weird when he told the audience he was going to station the trophy in his bathroom.
K-Pop behemoth BTS took home an award for having the biggest fans, while Janet Jackson recieved a Global Icon Award.
The awards took place at the Bilbao Exhibition Center in Spain with singer and actress Hailee Steinfeld serving as the host for the evening’s festivities.
