NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) Tekashi69 has been transferred to a new prison in New York city because of security reasons, according to reports.

The rapper was put in general population at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being indicted on firearms and racketeering charges. He is now in a facility with “neutral inmates” – i.e., no gang members – according to TMZ.

The new location is not known but sources told TMZ that Tekashi69, real name Daniel Hernandez, had asked to be in a unit away from Crips and Bloods street gangs. He apparently has been transferred to a federal facility that is “regularly used to house witnesses who cooperate with the feds.”

Hernandez attorney Lance Lazzaro would not comment whether his client is trying to cut a deal in return for being a prosecution witness against others indicted in the racketeering case, saying only that Hernandez was transferred for security reasons after getting death threats from gang members.

Hernandez was indicted for racketeering and firearms charges, along with five others, and faces a minimum of 32 years in prison. His attorney says he is “completely innocent.”
