PHILADELPHIA (CelebrityAccess) — Former WWE star Big Cass was hospitalized Saturday after collapsed at a wrestling event.

According to TMZ, Cass, whose real name is William Morrissey, was scheduled to perform at Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore event in Philadelphia but suffered a seizure while preparing for a meet & greet with fans.

Some fans told TMZ that they initially thought Cass’s collapse was part of the scripted backstage drama for the show, which led to confusion about if he really needed medical assistance.

However, medical responders were able to provide assistance until the alleged seizure subsided.

Dreamer later took to the ring to advise fans about Cass’s status, and took pains to note that the seizure was not “drug-related.”

Cass was released from the WWE earlier this year. While an official cause for his release was not disclosed, but sources at the time told Sports Illustrated that he was released for personal conduct issues, including drinking during a European tour, and public intoxication.
