KOLKATA (CelebrityAccess) Pandit Arun Bhaduri, 75, singer of classical Bengali music, died in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India, Dec. 17.
Bhaduri was one of the best-known Gurus of Indian Classical Music and has disciples throughout India, including Koushik Bhattacharjee, Kasturi Bandopadhyay, Tushar Dutta and Indrani Mukherjee. He was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other respiratory ailments.
“I am deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Pandit Arun Bhaduri, an exponent of Kirana, Rampur Gharana,” chief minister Mamata Banerjee sasid in a tweet. “”Our government had conferred on him the states highest civilian award, Banga Bibhusan, in 2014 for his outstanding contribution to music.”
