AUSTRALIA (CelebrityAccess) – Twisted Sister has threatened legal action against the United Australia Party and its leader Clive Palmer for recording their own version of the band’s 1984 hit, “We’re Not Gonna Take It.”

The party’s version of the song accompanies a campaign currently being circulated on TV across Australia and on social media, and uses the lyrics, “Australia ain’t gonna cop it, no Australia’s not gonna cop it. Aussies not gonna cop it.”

Upon hearing of Palmer’s use of the song, both Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French and frontman Dee Snider took to Twitter to clarify that the band does not support the Aussie politician nor did they give him permission to use the track in any way.

According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Palmer responded to the claims by saying: “Old rocker who can not sell enough tickets to their last gig need publicity…No communication from their lawyers, I own the copyright for my own lyrics.”
