Leon Neyfakh’s Slow Burn Wins Podcast Of The Year At First Annual iHeartRadio Podcast Awards

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — In what is perhaps a sign of the times, Slow Burn, Leon Neyfakh’s podcast examining impeachment was named as Podcast of the Year at the first annual iHeartRadio Podcast Awards.

The awards, presented at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles on Friday, recognized content creators across 22 genres with hosts Holly Frey, Charlamagne Tha God, Bobby Bones, as well as livestream host Mario Lopez.

The event featured appearances by award nominees, celebrity presenters and other special guests including Mike Tyson, Dax Shepard, Jillian Michaels, Jana Kramer, Topher Grace, Dr. Drew, Becca Tilley, Scheana Shay, Dean Unglert, Vanessa Grimaldi and more.

Award recipients included Marc Smerling, host of “Crimetown” and “The RFK Tapes,” who was awarded Podcast Innovator by a blue-ribbon panel of podcast industry leaders.

Dan Carlin was recognized with the award for best history podcast for his long-running series Hardcore History and Joe Rogan won the prize for best comedy podcast.

Breakout Podcast of the Year awarded to Dax Shepard and Monica Padman for Armchair Expert.

The awards show was broadcast on more than 150 iHeartMedia radio stations from across the country and livestreamed on iHeartRadio’s Twitter.
