Report: The FBI Launches A Preliminary Investigation Of Ryan Adam Allegations

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – The FBI has reportedly begun a preliminary investigation into allegations that singer-songwriter Ryan Adams exchanged sexually explicit images with a teenaged fan.

According to the New York Times, agents in the bureau’s New York office initiated the first steps into a criminal investigation following a report on in the Times on Wednesday that alleged tat Adams engaged in explicit text and video conversations with a female fan over a two year period, starting when she was 14-years-old.

In the Times article, the newspaper claimed to have reviewed more than 3,000 text messages related to Adams communication with the girl, who was identified in the article as Ava.

As well, the Times reported that an upcoming album release of Big Colors by Adams has been postponed in the midst of the controversy. The Times noted that Bull Moose, a record store chain in Maine and New Hampshire, said it was contacted by a sales rep from Universal Music Group that the album was canceled.

Capitol Music Group, a division of Universal Music, which was scheduled to distribute Adams’s new albums, declined to comment to the Times.

Ryan has denied the allegations against him and as of yet, has not been charged with any crimes.
