Questlove To Keynote ASCAP I Create Music Expo

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Questlove has joined the lineup for the 2019 ASCAP “I Create Music” for a keynote conversation with Oscar-winning songwriter and ASCAP Chairman of the Board and President Paul Williams.

The Roots drummer, DJ, producer, author (most recently of his newest book, NYTimes best-selling and Grammy-nominated Creative Quest) will also be presented with the ASCAP Creative Voice Award.

Additional panelists announced for this year’s Expo include “This Is Us” composer Sidd Khosla, electronic producers TOKiMONSTA and Freddy Kennett (of Louis The Child), acclaimed songwriter Priscilla Renea (“Timber,” “California King Bed”) and Oscar- and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Stephen Bishop (“On and On,” “Save It For a Rainy Day”).

As well, composer Bear McCreary will provide feedback to event attendees on their original scores against the backdrop of his own filmography.

Other newly-announced events at the Expo include “The Rise of Emo Rap” panel, which will examine the rise of the Soundcloud Rapper and their impact on mainstream music, with hosts Emo Nite LA’s Morgan Freed, producer Charlie Shuffler, and artists Lil Aaron and Kreayshawn.

“Nashville Goes Global” will shine a light on Music City’s embrace of international sounds and trends with Ashley Gorley, Tommee Profitt, Chris Farren, Steven Battey, and Dave Kuncio.

As well, this year, the popular “Publishing 101” panel returns with hosts including Sue Drew (Kobalt), Jake Fain (Sony), Luke McGrellis (UMPG) and Monti Olson (BMG).

Previously announced panelist include Wyclef Jean, whose Yéle Haiti charity dissolved in 2012 after millions in donations for Haitian earthquake relief disappeared in an accounting scandal, country legend Lee Ann Womack, “Shallow” co-writer Anthony Rossomando, Matthew Koma, Troye Sivan-collaborator Leland

The ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO will take place May 2 – 4, 2019 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles.
