Aaron Carter Arrested For DUI In Georgia

HABERSHAM COUNTY, GA (CelebrityAccess) — Singer Aaron Carter was arrested Saturday in Georgia on suspicion of of DUI and drug possession.

Habersham County Sheriff's Capt. Floyd Canup told the Associated Press that Carter, along with his girlfriend Madison Parker who has been accompanying Carter on tour, were arrested after a deputy allegedly observed Carter driving erratically after authorities received a 911 call from a motorist.

"He was driving all over the road and driving into the median," Canup told the AP.

Carter later suggested in a statement released via social media, that he felt unfairly targeted because of his celebrity and suggested that he has a medical license for medical marijuana to treat long-standing anxiety.

Capt. Canup disputed Carter's claims that the drugs were prescription, noting that the drug Carter was alleged to have possessed was not covered under the medical marijuana law. “It's not the green, leafy type, which he had,” Canup told the AP.

Carter, who has released several solo albums and appeared on "Dancing With The Stars in 2009" has battled drug issues in the past, including spending a month in rehab in 2011 for what was described as a dependency on the anti-anxiety sedative Xanax.
