AEG Inks Long-Term Deal With Chesney

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Messina Group/AEG has pacted with country star Kenny Chesney in a long-term touring deal that may extend into 2013. The terms of the deal were not disclosed but Billboard reported that a signing bonus or up front payment were not part of the agreement.

According to Billboard, the deal which would go into effect in 2009, doesn't include recording or merch deals but also doesn't involved a large up-front payment like Live Nation's 360-deals have. Instead Chesney's will get guaranteed amount based on the number of tickets available for a show, not the number of seats sold. A deal of this nature would put significant pressure on AEG to fill the seats at every show.

Its probably a pretty safe bet with Chesney, who is a touring titan. According to Billboard, he's grossed more than $300 million since 2002, selling nearly 7 million tickets which breaks down to a little more than 1 million tickets a year.
