LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — AEG has pacted with Germany-based promoter and ticketing firm CTS Eventim to provide ticketing services for all of AEG's German venues and events. AEG has a strong presence in Germany and the deal encompasses major arenas, sports clubs and one-off events. CTS Eventim expects that the agreement will bump their annual sales by more than a million tickets.
A good portion of these tickets will come from events in the O2 World Arena in Berlin. The 17,000 capacity, state-of-the-art facility will be opening for business on September 12 with Metallica celebrating the release of their latest album there, followed on September 13 by a concert by Herbert Grönemeyer and thereafter by the first official ice hockey league match of the Berlin Ice Bears and a concert by Coldplay in the new arena.
Also included in the deal will be the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, one-off events and AEG-owned sports clubs such as German ice hockey league teams Eisbären Berlin (Berlin Ice Bears) and Hamburg Freezers.
With this deal, AEG will join their principle rivals Live Nation in utilizing CTS Eventim's ticketing software. Live Nation pacted with CTS last year to license CTS ticketing system for use in their in-house ticketing system which is integrated into their website.
