AEG & SMG Among Bidders For Broomfield Events Center

BROOMFIELD, Colorado (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Both AEG and SMG are among the companies vying to secure a management contract to operate the Broomfield Event Center after its former operator, Broomfield Sports & Entertainment asked to be released from their contract.

Broomfield Sports & Entertainment notified the city of Broomfield that they wanted out of the contract, citing financial problems. Since then, AEG and SMG have expressed interest in running the center, along with VenueWorks and RG Sports & Entertainment, the Denver Business Journal reported.

BS&E originally developed the $43 million dollar event center, which serves as home to NBA franchise, the Colorado 14ers and the Rocky Mountain Rage hockey team. However, since opening in 2006, the 6,000 seat center has struggled to turn a book music events and profit.

Proposals from the interested management companies are being considered by the city's Broomfield Urban Renewal Authority, which owns the venue. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
