LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — A student in Britain has been arrested and charged with planning to carry out a an Islamic State-inspired attack on an Elton John concert.
According to The London Times, 19-year-old Haroon Ali-Syed allegedly researched targets including Buckingham Palace, Oxford Street and an upcoming Elton John concert in Hyde Park for a planned attack on September 11.
The Times reported that Mr Syed allegedly planned to remotely detonate a bomb in a crowded area, but the plot was foiled after he was contacted online by an undercover police officer who arranged a face-to-face meeting with Mr. Syed.
The Daily Mirror reported that Syed also attempted to contact a bomb-maker to construct a pressure cooker bomb for use at the Elton John concert. – Staff Writers
