American Idol Tour Gets Ready For The Road, This Time With Live Nation

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The top finalists on this year's "American Idol" will be hitting the road this summer as a part of the American Idol Live Tour, set to kick off on July 1st in Detroit.

The tour will be produced by Live Nation, a departure from the past seven years during which the tour was run by AEG Live. Included on the latest iteration of the tour will be American Idol Season 9 top 10 contestants Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, Katie Stevens, and Tim Urban.

According to Billboard, the tour has sold more than 3.3 million tickets and grossed more than $170 million since it launched in 2002, including a single-year gross of more than $35 million in 2006.

"We are all looking forward to this year’s American Idol Live! Tour. This is always one of the highlights of the year. Each of the Idols have the chance to meet the people that voted for them and perform at incredible venues all over America, another special moment in their developing careers." said American Idol creator Simon Fuller.
