American Music Festival Raises $35K For Red Cross

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Attendees at the 12th Annual Verizon Wireless American Music Festival over Labor Day weekend in Virginia Beach donated $35,000 to support the local Red Cross national relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

“Almost $18,000 cash was collected during the Journey concert Sunday night,” Rob Shapiro, PR director for the American Red Cross of Southeastern Virginia, said in a statement. “LeAnn Rimes’ oceanfront concert Saturday night was broadcast in part on Larry King Live’s three-hour CNN worldwide special. We couldn’t have hoped for better exposure or cooperation.

“The generosity and big hearts of music fans will provide relief for hundreds of needy people and help get them on the road to recovery from the recent hurricane.”

The City of Virginia Beach and Beach Events also partnered with the Red Cross for the Asian Tsunami relief last December. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
