Apple Orchard Shows To Go On This Weekend, Future Shows In Jeopardy

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A set of shows set for this weekend in the Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard will proceed after a county judge put a restraining order against the company on hold. Friday night’s concert will feature blues rocker Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and country singer Patty Loveless will headline Saturday’s event.

The fate of the remainder of the orchard’s planned three-month-long concert series will be the subject of a hearing set for July 20th.

Scott County, Minnesota, had argued that the Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard’s permit does not allow for 2,500-capacity shows and asked for a temporary restraining order to prevent any concerts. The judge put that order on hold after the orchard argued that its permit does not specify limits on the size of live shows, and filed for an injunction against the county’s action.

The judge first held a hearing on the orchard’s request, at which John Sponsel, whose family owns the orchard in Jordan, Minnesota, told the judge that the series had, at the point, sold tickets totaling “in the hundreds,” according to the Star-Tribune.

The orchard is now selling half-price tickets to all July shows. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
