Arkansas Fund-Raiser Lacks Selling Power

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) – Ticket sales for a political fund-raising concert by country singer Larry Gatlin at the Little Rock, Arkansas, Robinson Center Music Hall, left much to be desired as only 244 seats in the 2,500-capacity venue were filled.

The $40-per-head show was designed as a fund-raiser for Andy Mayberry, a Republican challenger to U.S. Representative Vic Snyder (D-Ark.) in the 2006 election.

Mayberry had hoped to use the concert to raise up to $90,000, but lost money on the event instead.

“I am not a concert promoter and have never professed to be,” Mayberry told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. “Forty dollars was probably too much to charge for the ticket.

“The political [connection] may have made some people uneasy out of fear that the event would be boring.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
