Avicii Cancels Las Vegas Residency

LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) – Following the heels of his recently announced plans to retire from touring, Avicii has now cancelled all of the remaining dates for his current Las Vegas residency.

A statement posted on the club's Instagram said that he had cancelled the remainder of his shows there for personal reasons and announced that Dillon Francis would step in as a replacement for at least one of the shows.

The DJ and producer had been performing a two-month stint as the resident DJ at Wynn Las Vegas' Encore Beach Club and XS Nightclub that started on April 29th and which was scheduled to stretch into late June.

According to Billboard, a previous statement by Sean Christie, Wynn Las Vegas' chief operating officer indicated that Avicii planned to complete his residency despite the announcement of his retirement, but that no longer appears to be the case. According to Mixmag, Avicii's representatives confirmed that his remaining tour dates this year are still a go.

Avicii revealed at the end of March, 2016 that he was planning to retire from touring and performing and instead focus on producing music. At the time, he cited health issues and the stress of life on the road.

"My choices and career have never been driven by material things, although I’m grateful for all the opportunities and comforts my success has availed me," he said, thanking the fans, family, peers, partners and longtime manager Arash "Ash" Pournouri for their support over the years. "I know I am blessed to be able to travel all around the world and perform, but I have too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist," he wrote in announcing his retirement plans. – Staff Writers
