LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Live Nation's executive chairman Irving Azoff has joined the board of directors at the company's former parent corporation, Clear Channel Communications.
According to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Azoff will step into the spot vacated by Kent Weldon, who resigned from the board earlier this week. Weldon is a managing director at Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P., one of the private equity shops that helped Clear Channel to go private in 2008.
Azoff's position on the board is uncompensated and it has yet to be determined which committees, if any, Azoff will participate in, the SEC filing said.
Earlier this week, Azoff was widely reported to be a central figure in ouster of former Live Nation chairman Barry Diller from that company's board. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
