Bakersfield Promoter Danny Lipco Dead At 59

BAKERSFIELD, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Bakersfield promoter Danny Lipco, who brought acts such as B.B. King and The Pixies to Bakersfield, died at a local hospital on Saturday night of an undisclosed illness. He was 59.

Lipco was the owner of ticketing company Vallitix and aVenueTek and was the current operator of the Fox Theater in Bakersfield.

Fox Theater Foundation President Rick Davis told KBAK News that Lipco had been feeling poorly for several weeks but the news of his death was a surprise.

"It was certainly unexpected," Davis said. "His death comes as a shock and a tragic loss."

Lipco helped to revitalize the Fox, putting the theater on firm financial footing when he took over booking for the venue. In the past year, the Fox has seen performances by artists including Sheryl Crowe, B.B. King and Merle Haggard.

Lipco is survived by his wife, Lillian, three young daughters and three siblings. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
