Barry Fey's Toy Drive Delivers

Promoter Barry Fey cannot deny that the people of Colorado deliver. His "Mountain of Love from the Heart of Colorado" toy drive for the children of World Trade Center victims last month, pulled in more than 3 tons of gifts with the help of local businesses and media outlets.

"That's almost 7,000 pounds of toys," Fey told the Rocky Mountain News. "I'm delighted. I've never known people in Colorado let a call for help go unanswered."

The first shipment of toys arrived in New York on Sunday, December 16 and was distributed by New York City Council woman Christine Quinn and Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., the paper reports. But Fey was not among them.

"I know how much I've been affected here," he said. "I can't even imagine seeing it there.

But from the pictures he saw, he said, "The kids were just ecstatic, if only for a few minutes. If you can just give them a few minutes, it's something."
