Blink 182's Travis Barker Forms La Salle Records

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Blink 182's Travis Barker has formed a new label La Salle Records, distributed through Atlantic Records. The Kinison and The Nervous Return are the first two acts signed. La Salle will also be releasing the upcoming Transplants album.

"I wanted to put out great music" states Barker. "What artist wouldn't want to help another artist with creative freedom? I saw The Nervous Return four years ago, and they were the reason I started a label in the first place. I saw The Kinison in a club in Riverside, CA three years ago, and it's the best live band I've seen in five years."

The Kinison and The Nervous Return are both musically different from that of Barkers' bands (Blink 182, The Transplants) but that's really no surprise. "I'm not signing any specific genre of music," says Barker, "just great music of any genre."

La Salle Records will release the debut full length entitled "What Are You Listening To?" by The Kinison in May. The band is currently on a national tour. The Nervous Return just finished recording their album and will be appearing on the side stage of the No Doubt/Blink 182 tour. The Transplants will be recording their album in the next month, which is scheduled for a release later this year.

Above everything, Barker says "I just want to be a sincere label." –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
