Bojangles Restaurant Chain Looking To Strike Naming Rights Deal At Cricket Arena

CHARLOTTE, SC (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Bojangles' Restaurants Inc. has singed off on a $1.25 million, ten-year naming rights deal for the Cricket Arena in Charlotte.

The arena, managed by the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority has been looking for a new naming rights sponsor since the expiration of an agreement with Cricket Communications expired in 2005, the Charlotte Business Journal reported.

The deal, if approved by the city council, will take effect in 2009. As a part of the agreement, Bojangles will be able to operate a food concession at the venue and will earn sales commissions pursuant.

The 10,000 seat arena used to serve as the home to the Charlotte Checkers, a minor league hockey team, but in recent years, it has been primarily a venue for concerts and other similar events.

"It's a Charlotte-owned company and a long-time partner of ours both as a sponsor and as a food and beverage provider," says Mike Crum, chief operating officer of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority. "It gives us another marketing partner to help sell the events that go into the building. It's a real endorsement of the value of that facility." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
