Midem 2003 opening night party will be hosted by Brazilian Music & Arts (BMA), Sunday 19 January.
BMA is a non-profit venture of Brazilian music and performing arts independent producers, distributors and promoters. The main interest of BMA is to look for international partners for distribution abroad. Brazilian labels have always been present at Midem. For the first time last year they attended Midem from a group stand, and this has been enhanced this year, and offers them greater visibility at the international market.
This opening night will make it possible to span the vibrant musical diversity of this huge country, to rediscover great names, but above all, showcase young artists representing a whole new generation of creativity which is exploding today's Brazil.
José Carlos Costa Netto, President, BMA, says: "This first-time opportunity ends up taking place in a very important moment where the Brazilian independent phonographic market is facing a huge growth: in the last 10 years, circa 300 new labels from all sizes have been created in the country. This movement helps constructing a diversity on both senses, artistic and musical, as has never happened before and we are willing to give the flavor of it not only during the “Opening Night Party” but overall the “Brazilian area” at Midem."
Full details of the Brazilian opening night, artists and exhibitors are to be unveiled in the next weeks.
