Broomfield Names AEG/Kroenke As Lead Contender

BROOMFIELD, CO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The City of Broomfield has indicated that AEG/Kroenke Sports Enterprises are the lead candidates to manage the 6,000-seat Broomfield Event Center. Other bidders for the Center included both SMG and VenuWorks.

City officials hope that AEG and Kroenke will help to raise the profile and programming at the Center, which has struggled to post strong numbers since it opened, the Denver Post reported. The venue had been formerly managed by Broomfield Sports and Entertainment, but the search for a replacement has been underway since BS&E successfully requested to be released from their contract with the city in January.

The AEG team is being led by AEG's Chuck Morris and partnering with Paul Andrews, the head of Kroenke Sports Enterprises. Morris is a seasoned promoter with solid experience in the market while Andrews, along with KSE President Stan Kroenke, run Denver's Pepsi Center, Dick's Sporting Goods Park and the Paramount Theatre, the Denver Post said.

Contract negotiations are now underway and the City hopes to have a deal closed by August of '09. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
