LOS ANGELES (Hypebot) – Two negative comments from music bloggers Rich Faliciano of InvisibleLimb.net and to yesterday's post Romancing Your Favorite Music Bloggers served as a reminder of a one of the cardinal rules that drives great music, as well as, lasting careers and businesses: SINCERITY.
In the post, I described a plan for identifying and building relationships with select music bloggers. My approach appeared to condone insincere compliments and actions to gain favor with writers who might benefit your career. But while I am pragmatic enough to know that not all promotional efforts are based purely on quality and truth, in music, as in all art, sincerity matters.
Just as building your relationship with fans is deeper and more lasting if you connect via songs and performances that come from personal experiences and truths, your relationships with bloggers and others in the industry will flourish only if they are based on the same principles.
