Carolyn Williams Named Senior Vice President, Urban Marketing, RCA Music Group


NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Carolyn Williams has been named Senior Vice President, Urban Marketing, RCA Music Group it. Williams previously held the title of Vice President, Urban Marketing, RCA Music Group. She will continue to report to Tom Corson EVP/GM, RCA Music Group and will be based in the company’s New York headquarters.

Williams joined the company in 2001 as Director of Marketing, J Records, rising to her current position. In her expanded role, Williams will be responsible for overseeing the label’s urban marketing division, with a focus on both superstar artists and developing acts. She will continue to create and implement marketing efforts for artists as diverse as multiple Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum selling artists Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx, as well as platinum artists such as Mario, Fantasia and Monica. Williams will also continue to drive the campaign for multiple Grammy-nominated newcomer Jazmine Sullivan’s debut and the upcoming project from one of hip-hop’s rising stars, Hurricane Chris, among others.


Prior to RCA Music Group, Williams was Director of Marketing for Tommy Boy Records where she not only explored marketing trends and cross-promotional opportunities for the urban roster, but also lent her expertise to gospel, dance and alternative projects. Previously, while at Penalty Records, she spearheaded the now classic debut for Capone N Noreaga and oversaw the release of Noreaga’s platinum-selling solo effort. Williams was also Director of Operations for Pete Rock’s Soul Brother Records (Elektra Records) where she managed the company’s day-to-day functions and later assumed the role of Production Manager of Soul Brother #1 Productions.

Williams began her career as an entertainment journalist and is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology.
