Cars 3 Tops Weekend Box Office


LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Disney/Pixar's animated comedy "Cars 3" was in the fast lanea after topping domestic box office revenue in its debut weekend.

Directed by Brian Fee, with voice acting by Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Armie Hammer, Bonnie Hunt, Larry the Cable Guy, Nathan Fillion, Kerry Washington and Lea DeLaria, "Cars 3" enjoyed a global debut of $53.5m domestically, and $74.9 million worldwide.

Despite the warm domestic welcome for the Pixar project, Warner Bros. "Wonder Woman" held the top honors worldwide, adding additional $80.3M to its cumulative revenue and pushing the super hero adventure close to the $600 million cumulative milestone.

Universal's reboot of "The Mummy" also continued to perform, holding the top spot in international markets and adding $53 million in 68 territories this weekend for a total of $239.1 million and combined with the North American total of $56.5 million, the worldwide total for the movie is now at $295.6 million. – Staff Writers
