VANCOUVER (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) has announced this year's CCMA Awards nominees and that the host for this year's ceremony will be..wait for it..Jason Priestley.
Johnny Reid leads the pack this year with a total of six noms, including nods for Single of the Year, Album of the Year for Dance With Me, Songwriter of the Year, CMT Video of the Year for "A Woman Like You", Male Artist of the Year and the CCMA Fans’ Choice Award.
Also with five nominations is songwriter turned recording artist, Victoria Banks, whose debut album, When You Can Fly earned her nominations for not only Album of the Year but also Single of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Female Artist of the year and the Rising Star Award.
Other Final Ballot heavy hitters include the 2008 Top New Male Talent of the Year, Gord Bamford who scored four nominations and newcomer Dean Brody who including a nomination for Rising Star also had nominations for Single of the Year, CMT Video of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
This year's awards ceremony is set to take place in Vancouver on September 13th at the GM Place. The awards will be carried on CBC Television and rebroadcast on CMT in Canada.
The event will be hosted by the aforementioned Jason Priestley, who you may remember from his role as the dashing Brandon Walsh on Beverly Hills 90210 among other roles. Featured among the scheduled performers at this year's ceremony are country music icon Reba McEntire, George Canyon, Terri Clark, Doc Walker, Jessie Farrell, Martina McBride, Aaron Pritchett, and Johnny Reid.
