Club Lingerie Closes Doors

HOLLYWOOD, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Club Lingerie in Hollywood, CA has closed down after thirty years and multiple transformations.

Originally named the “Soul’d Out” in the 1970’s, the club was bought by Elmer Valentine, who was also an original owner of the Whiskey A Go-Go. It was Valentine, along with his partner, who changed the name to Club Lingerie.

During the 80’s the club was known for it’s punk and metal shows, but more recently the club underwent an identity crisis. According to Mike Giangreco, who booked shows for the venue, “It became a Gentleman’s Club for a little while, then a dance club before they began bringing back live acts.”

Giangreco noted that the Lingerie Club was doing well before the club’s bookkeeper took over managing. “She brought in a lot of hip-hop acts and several fights broke out after shows. The club started loosing money and because of the violence, the police got involved.” Rather than deal with the growing problems facing Club Lingerie, the owners decided it was best to sell the club.

The former Lingerie Club booker went on to speculate that should the venue reopen, it will most likely do so as a dance club. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
