Coldplay, Travis & The Darkness Join Band Aid III

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Three British groups have agreed to re-release the massive hit “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” this year in an effort to raise money on the 20th anniversary of the original release. According to Ananova.com, Coldplay, Travis and the Darkness have all contacted organizer Midge Ure to participate.

Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay told the organization, “I’ll be anywhere you want me to and sing a couple of lines.” Fran Healy of Travis echoed Martin’s sentiments saying, “I will be anywhere they want me to be at any time and I will cancel any engagement to take part."

The original song, which was released in 1984, raised over $8 million for famine relief in Ethiopia and resulted in the hugely successful Live Aid concert the next year.

There is hope that further UK stars such as Robbie Williams, Jamelia, Noel Gallagher and Dido will also participate in the recording, which is expected to be this year’s number one Christmas song. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
