CONFERENCE NEWS: 2006 SXSW Applications Being Accepted & Muzik Mafia Panel Set to Meet During iebaLIVE!


(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Since 1987 South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival has been bringing musicians, record company
executives, club owners, radio programmers, journalists, publicists and
countless other people working in the music industry together. Over 1,000 showcasing artists and solo acts from around the globe perform on
60 stages over the course of five nights, March 15-19 in Austin,
TX. Applications to perform t are now being
accepted.

To apply to perform at the SXSW Music Festival, access the website at
www.sxsw.com and fill out the application online. Then enclose in one package a CD of original
materials (at least three songs), a photo, biography, and a press kit. Mail the
packet to SXSW Music Festival, P. O. Box 4999, Austin, TX 78765. Submitted
materials become the property of SXSW, Inc. and cannot be returned.

The
early application deadline is October 7 (postmark date) with an
application fee of $10. The late application deadline is October 24, 2005
for international acts, November 7 for domestic acts, with a fee of
$20. This year, all showcase applications must be filled out and paid for
online with a credit card. Acts
will be notified no later than February 7.

Some of the musical genres featured at the SXSW Music Festival include
alternative country, bluegrass, blues, country, DJ, electronic,
experimental, hip-hop, jazz, Latin, metal, pop, rock, punk,

Muzik Mafia Panel Set to Meet During iebaLIVE!

The International Entertainment Buyer’s Association (ieba) will offer a special Muzik Mafia panel discussion for attendees at this year’s conference featuring many of the key innovators of the recent movement in country music. The 35th Annual Conference iebaLIVE! 2005, scheduled for October 2-4, at the Hilton Suites, Nashville, will offer the informative panel, with a bit of acoustic performance, from the Muzik Mafia godfathers and artists themselves.
