CONFERENCE NEWS: Aspen Live ’05 Conference Celebrates 10th Anniversary & Wall To Keynote Billboard Roadwork Conference

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The annual Aspen Live Conference, set for December 12-14 at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colorado, will be celebrating its 10th year of bringing together diverse groups of music business leaders.

The “think-tank” style conference for the live entertainment industry will be focusing on the theme of “innovation” this year, stressing the importance of the industry working together and learning from each other to attract more fans to the live experience, and not just focusing on singles or videos.

This year’s conference will feature Tom Kelley and Peter Neufeld as guest speakers. Kelley is the General Manager of IDEO and author of The Art of Innovation: Lessons in Creativity from IDEO, America’s Leading Design Firm. Neufeld is the co-founder and co-director of The Innocence Project, a group that represents hundreds of inmates seeking post-conviction release through DNA testing.

Other activities set up for the three-day conference include demonstration classes by the Cooking School of Aspen, group and private skiing and snowboarding lessons, cross country skiing tours, snowmobiling, and showshoe tours of the Aspen/Snowmass area.

This year’s location, the prestigious Hotel Jerome, features 92 beautifully appointed, spacious guest rooms and suites, each individually decorated to enhance its elegance and sophistication. Rooms at the hotel are limited, so the earlier you register, the better the chance of securing the luxury lodging.

To register for this year’s conference, visit www.aspenlive.net for details. Online registration is possible for the conference, lodging, and activities. All accommodations have a special Aspen Live ’05 rate, and conference alumni can save $100 off of the total cost of registration.

Aspen Live is capped at 200 attendees each year, to make sure all present can communicate with each other. Past registrants include top managers, label execs, agents, concert promoters, lawyers, business managers, merchandisers, venue managers and many others from the industry. — by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers

Wall To Keynote Billboard Roadwork Conference

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Kevin Wall, founder and CEO of Network Live and executive producer of Worldwide Television for Live8, will be the keynote Q&A at the second Billboard Roadwork Conference taking place October 25-26 at The Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. Ray Waddell, Billboard’s senior editor, touring, will moderate the discussion on October 25.

Wall boasts an impressive, successful track record in live entertainment production, television and Internet
distribution, which began in the early 1970's when he built the first portable staging company to accommodate the need of large concert performers traveling around the world. Today, Wall focuses his energy on the future of digital entertainment through his company Network Live. He oversees all aspects of the company’s programming, distribution and business development, and played an instrumental role in developing the overall strategy and vision for the business. Wall also recently served as executive producer of Worldwide Television for Live8, which was one of the largest live broadcasts in history. This massive global event devised to Make Poverty History, included nine live concerts that were distributed in more than 160 countries via television, radio and the Internet.

“Kevin Wall is an entertainment and technology pioneer whose extraordinary experience in the touring industry made him an exciting choice for the keynote Q&A at the Billboard Roadwork Conference & Awards,” said Waddell. “Wall is a true visionary in this field. His knowledge of the music business coupled with his commitment to the merging of live and digital entertainment is sure to make this Q&A a highlight of the event.” –Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
