Country Fans Dig White Lightning

ROANOKE RAPIDS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A country music concert at the Carolina Crossroads entertainment district in Roanoke Rapids led to a number of attendees being arrested by police for a variety of infractions The Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald reported. The concert, featuring performances by country stars Gretchen Wilson & Hank Williams Jr. drew crowds of more than 30,000 people.

State alcohol enforcement officers cited 71 people for 76 different charges, primarily alcohol-related. Others were charged with disruptive behavior, marijuana offenses and possession of false identification. Police also cited two people for illegal liquor, known locally as Moonshine.

Despite the crowds and moonshine, the concert was noted to be surprisingly uneventful. Agent Brent Massey told the Daily Herald that "They were surprisingly calm crowds from all the horror stories we had heard from other venues that had this show. They were saying how many fights were coming. We were pleasantly surprised that we didn't have that big of a problem. I think we got the better end of it." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
