Delbert McClinton will again sail away on the Delbert McClinton Sandy Beaches Cruise. Now in its ninth year, the cruise will set sail from the port of Tampa, Fla., on January 11, 2003, returning on January 18. The liner is Holland America's five-star ms Veendam and will visit George Town in the Grand Caymans, Santo Tomas de Castillo, Guatemala and Cozumel, Mexico during the week long trip.
This year's lineup once again will feature an all-star bill of recording artists representing the full spectrum of American roots music: Del McCoury, Bonnie Bramlett, The Derailers, Marcia Ball, Tommy Castro, Wayne Toups & Zydecajun, Stephen Bruton, Al Anderson, Fred Eaglesmith, Gary Nicholson, Bob DePiero, Jeffrey Steele, Jimmy Hall, Bekka Bramlett, Mary McBride and Theresa James, plus keyboardist Nick Connolly, Miles Zuniga (of Fastball fame) and Bruce Channel (in whose band Delbert toured the U.K. in the ‘60s, sharing a bill with The Beatles.)
Every day and night from noon well into the early morning, concerts, jam sessions and songwriter shows will be highlighted.
"It’s no wonder that the Cruise enjoys an annual 70 per cent return rate," boasts McClinton. "It’s a great opportunity to get a bunch of friends together and make music and hang out. And why not do it in the Caribbean?"
Adds manager/wife Wendy Goldstein, "It’s shaping up to be the best party we’ve ever thrown."
