Diamond Dave Concert Scams Reported

CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Monterey International’s Garry Buck has been fielding phone calls all day from buyers at a handful of small clubs across the country who thought they might be getting a David Lee Roth concert at a bargain price.

Buck told CelebrityAccess that at least three clubs, two in Michigan and one in Arizona, were offered Roth concerts for extremely low guarantees by a man posing as Roth’s agent, and going under the names Gary Buck (an alternate spelling of Roth’s real agent’s name), David Wilson, Bill Cantor, and Michael Robynsen, and using different Chicago-based addresses for his companies.

The agent then asked for approximately half of the guarantee for a deposit, before skipping town, shutting down communication lines with the clubs and basically disappearing.

“I’ve gone between the FBI, Dave’s attorney, my attorney, the Chicago police…but basically, if you can’t get to the guy, there’s nothing you can do about,” Buck told CelebrityAccess.

Jimmy’s Roadhouse Saloon in Quincy, Michigan, and Venue of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona, were two of the clubs that fell victim to the false agent's contracts.

“This is all about protecting these small clubs who don’t have the money to be shelling out on scams by stupid people like this,” explained Buck, offering a warning to other potential victims. “If it sounds too good to be true, someone can stop the madness by just going online and doing a little research before agreeing to anything.”

Buck warned any other clubs receiving similar offers for shows that the clubs would not normally expect to be extremely wary and to definitely do their own research before falling victim themselves. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
