Diamond Jo Casino Cancels Summer Shows

IOWA CITY, IA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque, Iowa, has cancelled its Grandstand Under the Stars summer concert series over a contract dispute with the city.

Carrie Tedore, director of public relations for the casino, told the Des Moines Register that a lease agreement for the concerts had not been signed.

City Manager Mike Van Milligen told the paper he met with Diamond Jo representatives in February and gave them a proposal, but the casino had not yet responded.

Last summer, the weekly Grandstand performances showcased acts such as K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Taylor Dane, Bobby Vinton, the Little River Band, Sha Na Na and America.

The contract conflict appears to be over parking and other issues related to new state gambling regulations. The city owns the land at the Ice Harbor, where the concerts took place in the past. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
