DJ Dave Travis Convicted On Indecent Assault Charge

LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — Former Radio 1 DJ David Lee Travis has been found guilty of one incident of indecent assault, but cleared on several others.

According to the BBC, a Southwark Crown Court jury convicted the DJ of indecently assaulting a television researcher in 1995. He was cleared of charges relating to sexually assaulting a journalist and two indecent assault charges he was being retried on.

Travis was also previously found not guilty of 12 other indecent assault allegations at a previous trail.

The 69-year-old, who was tried under his real name David Griffin, was a regular presenter on the BBC Radio 1 show Top of the Pops until he resigned in 1993. He was arrested in 2012 on charges stemming from Operation Yewtree, which also snared veteran DJ Jimmy Savile on multiple charges of child sexual abuse.

Travis is free on bail until his sentencing on Friday. – Staff Writers
