LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — Russian pranksters appear to have gotten the better of Sir Elton John after convincing him via telephone that they were Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his spokesman Dmitry Peskov calling to discuss LGBT issues.
According to the Associated Press in Moscow, the pranksters, Vladimir "Vovan" Krasnov and Alexei "Lexus" Stolyarov, told Russian daily Komsomolskaya Pravda that they had pulled the wool over John's eyes with a telephone call on Tuesday.
John had reportedly thought the call was a response to public remarks from John over the weekend suggesting a meeting with Putin regarding his views on homosexuality.
"I look forward to meeting with you face-to-face to discuss LGBT equality in Russia," John wrote in the caption on his Instagram.
Krasnov told Komsomolskaya Pravda that John told them that their call "made his day" and that it was "the most amazing" conversation in his life. – Staff Writers
